description: This amazing rod was made as a one off project to mark Mr.Carpenters 45 years of rod making from 1967 to 2012 serial number 212177W.E.C. 1.Made with 75 year old Tonkin Cane that came from the original E.F. Payne Rod Shop. 2.The best figured American walnut he could find for the reel seat. 3.All mountings are made by Walt in his rod shop and are finished with his proprietary oxidation process. The best 18% Nickel Silver stock is utilized for the components; each using designs and techniques he has learned over the years. 4.The guides are German Agate (FROM PAYNE), the best bronze snake guides and perfection tip tops. 5. The rod is 7'7" in length and designed for DT4 LINE it is the only 7'7" Walt has ever made. 6.Hand made one off ferrule plug. 7. The winding are Walt's traditional saddle leather shade with black tipping. The signature winds at the butt and tip ferrules are done in a 4-5 sequence to signify his 45 years of rod making. 8.Included with this package is various letter printed pieces pertaining to Walt's years as a Rod Builder. 9.As a companion to this wonderful rod is a Carpenter & Casey Mod. 1-N handmade fly reel #102 included. It is one of a series of reels Walt had made with his good friend Frank Casey in the 1980's to 1990's. This period for the reel have become quite collectable.
