description: Probably one of the finest dry fly rods I have cast to date. Just a Stunning rod in all respects from the late great Sam Carlson. Sam only built 3 to 4 hundred rods in his career. Dana Gray (The New Carlson Rod Co Owner who was Sams apprentice) was kind enough to look up the history of this rod. If you don't know Dana then you are missing out what a complete Gentleman. He compiled the rods history over a two week period as he holds all the records to the Carlson Rod Co. This is truly a special rod in many ways as listed below. The rod is the 1st and only rod built by Sam in1981. The Carlson Four numbered 811-4752 a 4wt 7ft 6in 2 tip rod. This rod was ordered by a Mr. Paul Uplan of the Housatonic Fly Fisherman's Association or (HFFA) as printed on this rod. The rod was to be presented to Mr. Ed Kluck (Name also printed on the rod). The rod was eventually finished and hand carried by Sam to the HFFA dinner, which Sam attended in Connecticut on March 7th of 1981. The rod itself has been very well taken care of and is in Excellent Condition with a very nice patina to the cork from being fished. I think thats all I really need to say other than I will be sorry to see this one go.
