description: Brand: Paul H. Young Model: Prosperity Rod #1 Type: Bamboo Description: I am selling a pair of rare 7'6" 4wt 3/2 at 3-3/4ozs Paul H. Young "Prosperity". These were one owner rods owned by a Gentleman name John Madden (NO NOT THE FOOTBALL COACH). Later in life John became friend with people such as The Stranahans (Champion spark plug founders), Bob Hope, Bing Crosby, Roger Smith from GM and other notables. John later worked for Ford motor Co. under then Lee Iacocca. John owned many nice rod but these two rod offered were his favorites. This rod is in "G" condition having one a loose tip and about 1/8" short, finish need some TLC and would need to be restored at some point but the rod is all there as you can see from the photo's. Wonderful history in these rod of just another time when thing got tough! A few highlights of the rods are the down locking bake light spacer, mottled green/black wraps tipped black, ring hook keeper and red agate stripper guide. Handwriting on an Edwards-built " late 1920's "Prosperity" rod built looks to be Edward style. I was told that the owner had a real emotional connection to the Young rods he had in his collection over the years. These were no exception!
